ReValue is a research and development project paving the way towards large scale application of local wool and hennep in interior textile products. It is financed by Interreg and brings together partners in the textile supply chain to take the next steps towards developing and applying sustainable yarns. FBBasic takes part in this project and gives circular advice, as well as the use of C_passport®, the digital product passport developed by our daughter company Cirmar In this project, a circular system will be developed in which yarns are developed in line with circular principles and become part of a system in which the yarns can be recovered and reused.
Project consortium
Sustainable yarns, sourced locally
The project's mision is to develop high quality, sustainable yarns made from regional hemp, sheep's wool and recycled wool. These yarns will be used in interior products like upholstery, curtains and carpets. The unique mix of fibers results in yarns that are not only biologically degradable, but self cleaning and circular as well. During the project, we will experiment and test with various compositions. The goal is to find the optimal product composition that fits the envisioned application areas and that can be easily scaled at the same time.
Strengthening the local economy with sustainable yarns
ReValue is a regional project, in which both German and Dutch consortium partners participate. Materials sourcing will also take place regionally, as well as processing and production of end products. This way, the project strengthens local ties between textile companies, contributes to generating new jobs and business for local companies, and contributes to more sustainable production by finding efficient methods for creating yarns.
C_passport®: capturing composition, next use, and impact values
The yarns’ degree of sustainability depends on numerous aspects, like its design, the use applications, next use applications and recyclability. To make sure all of this is captured, communicated, and put into practice, Cirmar will create C_passports® for various possible compositions. In these C_passports®, we will record the information required to fulfill the circular potential of the yarns, as well as the automatically calculated impact values for the yarns.
This is the first version of the connected C_passport®, which we will expand and enrich with more data during the project. Additionally, passports will be created for all samples and scalable material compositions.
Get involved
As part of the project, the consortium will undertake a variety of activities to involve relevant stakeholders. Over the course of 2 years, we organise seminars and workshops to share our findings and gather input for the project. Are you interested in participating one way or another? Let us know, we’re always happy to receive input and expand our network of circular pioneers.
